At Rescue Our Democracy (ROD), we believe that public servants should serve the people—not powerful donors, lobbyists, or political machines. This section of our site is dedicated to highlighting candidates who reflect the values of democracy, transparency, justice, and community well-being.
We don’t take this responsibility lightly. In an era of political noise, we seek out voices that rise above it.
📌 Our Position on Candidate Promotion
ROD is a local, independent grassroots group operating under the Indivisible.org umbrella. What does that mean?
- We are not a standalone nonprofit with our own legal status.
- Instead, we are a fiscally sponsored project of Indivisible.org, a registered 501(c)(4) nonprofit.
- Indivisible.org handles our finances, compliance, and legal protections while giving us autonomy to organize and speak out locally.
We do not accept payments, donations, or incentives in exchange for promoting candidates. Nor do we ever compensate candidates for participation. Our support is issue-driven, community-informed, and based entirely on alignment with ROD’s mission and values.
We reserve the right to promote candidates through legal, grassroots-driven methods—including interviews, posts, and public visibility—as long as:
- We do not contribute financially to any campaign as a group.
- We maintain independence from all political campaigns.
- Our efforts remain within the bounds of a nonprofit’s legal framework under Indivisible.
💬 How We Choose Candidates to Feature
We don’t go searching for political stars. Instead, community members point us to candidates they believe in, and we investigate from there. We look for people who:
- Show integrity and a strong grasp of policy.
- Are committed to representing all constituents, not just party loyalists.
- Actively support voting rights, human rights, economic fairness, and democratic reforms.
We also believe in holding power accountable—even those we support.
