Our Story

Rescue Our Democracy (ROD) began with a simple belief: democracy works best when citizens are informed, engaged, and empowered. Therefore, our founders started a grassroots effort to bring people together to protect and strengthen democratic norms. Over time, that effort grew into a full civic organization dedicated to education, advocacy, and participation.

How We Started

Our founders recognized that many Americans felt disconnected from government and unsure how to participate. As a result, they created ROD to provide:

  • Accessible civic education
  • Opportunities for advocacy and protest
  • Practical tools to engage in democracy effectively

In addition, we wanted to build a community where citizens could share knowledge and support each other in taking action. From small local events to digital resources, ROD has always prioritized community involvement and empowerment.

Our Growth and Evolution

Over time, ROD expanded its reach and impact. For example:

  • We became an official Indivisible.org affiliate, gaining resources and credibility.
  • We launched comprehensive tools for voter education and civic participation.
  • Additionally, we built a transparent editorial platform to share facts, analysis, and guidance.

Moreover, we have continued to grow while remaining rooted in grassroots values, ensuring that every project reflects our mission to strengthen democracy.

Looking Forward

Today, ROD’s story is still being written. We remain committed to:

  • Fostering civic engagement
  • Protecting democratic norms
  • Building an informed, empowered community of citizens

Consequently, we envision a future where every individual knows their voice matters, and where democracy thrives because people actively participate.

Finally, we continue to expand our programs, events, and educational resources so that more Americans can feel empowered to engage in democracy.
